Here is a run down of just a few of the things that will be taking place in and around Carolina Beer Temple on First Thursday in June (6/2/16).
The non-profit of the month is S.A.F.E. Animal Haven. S.A.F.E. (Spay/Neuter, Adoption, Foster and Education) Animal Haven is a non-profit group of volunteers that care deeply about animals and our community. They exist entirely on donations from their supporters. They see hundreds of animals whose bonds with humans have been broken. To help maintain those bonds, they serve as a community resource for information about companion animals and their care. The cornerstone of their program is to educate and promote the concept of spaying and neutering. They also provide rescues and adoptions, a safe environment in which to rehabilitate and re-home abandoned, neglected, abused, or otherwise homeless dogs, and in some cases provide a lifetime home, if necessary for animals that are elderly, disabled, and/or have a chronic condition requiring specialized care.
Since S.A.F.E. is our Non-Profit, there will be dog related activities all around Matthews Station Street. Look for dog vendors, a dog obstacle course and possibly a kissing booth featuring a local doggie celebrity!
The Arts & Crafts pop-up market will be located on the Town Green in June in front of Town Hall and the Public Library. In addition to some of our usual vendors, look for vendors that specialize in products for pets.
In the gazebo, on the Town Green, you can enjoy the music of the Nate Randall Band from 5-8PM. Learn more at https://www.reverbnation.com/naterandall
Carolina Beer Temple will be featuring the fabulous beers of Three Spirits Brewing out of Charlotte! Three Spirits is one of Charlotte’s newest breweries having opened earlier this year. Tabu, who started Three Spirits is formerly an M.D., having left a job in healthcare to open his own brewery.
Three Spirits beers tend to be moderate in alcohol and high in flavor – they call them “comfort beers,” just like your favorite “comfort” foods! As well, Three Spirits does not filter their beers – so they may appear a bit hazy. Their philosophy is that filters are great, except that they sometimes remove more than one might wish for. At Three Spirits, they choose to use gravity as their only filter after the whirlpool. All of the beers are previously unfiltered homebrews that people loved. Therefore, they decided to keep that philosophy in the brewery and produce beers as close to their prototypes as possible.
The tap list is still being determined, but we will feature 4-6 Three Spirits beers on tap, we will offer flights and discounted drafts! plus $1 of every pint or flight sold will be donated to S.A.F.E. Animal Haven.
We love dogs, but please keep your dogs outside when you visit us for this Puppy themed event. Unfortunately, North Carolina Health Dept. laws forbid our furry friends from entering our establishment. However, we always have dog treats behind the bar and water bowls – they are always welcome to enjoy them on our patio!
We’ll see you on First Thursday!!!!
